Dear second grade families,

          Hello and welcome back to school!  I just want to take a minute to introduce myself.  I am Megan Feeney and I will be your child’s crew and ELA (English Language Arts teacher) this year!  I am entering my 19th year of teaching and love working here at Park Elementary.  I have a special connection to Park, because I attended elementary school here and couldn’t think of a better place to teach!  I am passionate about helping students learn to read and write, because after all, once you are literate, you can learn about anything that interests you! I have a busy family with 3 kids of my own, one here at Park, one in middle school and one starting high school!  As a family, we spend a lot of time watching and playing sports, camping, fishing and being outside!

          This year, second grade will be “platooning”  which means that I will teach ELA and Mrs. Culhane will teach math, science and social studies will be integrated into both subject areas.  Our class will have crew and ELA in the mornings, lunch and specials mid-day and math with Mrs. Culhane in the afternoons.  Basically your child will have two teachers working closely together, because you know how the saying goes “two heads are better than one”.  If you have any questions about this schedule, please let me know!

Estimadas familias de segundo grado,

          ¡Hola y bienvenidos a la escuela!  Sólo quiero tomar un minuto para presentarme.  ¡Soy Megan Feeney y seré la maestra de equipo y ELA (English Language Arts) de su hijo este año!  Estoy entrando en mi 19º año de enseñanza y me encanta trabajar aquí en Park Elementary.  ¡Tengo una conexión especial con Park, porque asistí a la escuela primaria aquí y no podría pensar en un mejor lugar para enseñar!  Me apasiona ayudar a los estudiantes a aprender a leer y escribir, porque después de todo, una vez que estás alfabetizado, ¡puedes aprender sobre cualquier cosa que te interese! ¡Tengo una familia ocupada con 3 hijos propios, uno aquí en el Parque, uno en la escuela intermedia y uno que comienza la escuela secundaria!  Como familia, pasamos mucho tiempo viendo y practicando deportes, acampando, pescando y estando al aire libre.

          Este año, el segundo grado será "pelotón", lo que significa que voy a enseñar ELA y la Sra. Culhane enseñará las matemáticas, la ciencia y los estudios sociales se integrará en ambas áreas temáticas.  Nuestra clase tendrá equipo y ELA por las mañanas, almuerzo y especiales al mediodía y matemáticas con la Sra.
