Tom Curmano: About me

I have taught since 2004, and nearly all that time I has been at Park Elementary.  The culture and attitude at Park makes it a great place to teach. In my free time, I enjoy many outdoor activities ranging from fun and exciting to working outdoors.  My favorites are skiing, mountain biking, and hiking with family and friends. I like those the most because they get you out in nature and off the pavement. (So, no road biking for me.)  Those adventures have created some great memories. Especially, when you see your kids transform into amazing skiers or bikers that now challenge you to keep up, or even leave you in the dust!  Some of the most rewarding moments in teaching have also happened outside of the classroom environment. Our 5th grade adventure camp field trips to Camp Redcloud and COLS have been a highlight of each year at Park.  There have been so many times when a student has overcome a fear or challenge, and that really made me proud. It was great to see the boost in their pride and self confidence. Those trips took a lot of work, but were totally worth it every year.
