All About Ms. Carly Kissel

Hello 1st Grade Families!

I’m so excited to start this journey with you all! My name is Carly Kissel and I am a 1st grade teacher at Park Elementary. I can’t wait to get to know you and your child! I prefer to be called Miss Carly, but you can call me Miss Kissel if that’s what you or your child prefer.

I’ll begin by sharing a little bit about myself. I grew up in Aurora, Colorado, and I’ve wanted to teach since I was in school. I pursued those dreams by moving to Durango and attending Fort Lewis College in 2017. In December of 2020, I graduated with a degree in early childhood education. I completed my student teaching here at Park Elementary in the fall of 2020, teaching Kindergarten with Allie Handrick. I was hired in January 2021 to teach 1st grade!

This year will be full of fun, excitement, and growth! We’re going to be expanding ourselves as readers, writers, mathematicians, and so much more! Our classroom is a place where all students should feel comfortable, safe, and welcome. I can’t wait to get started and build a new community full of new opportunities.

We’re going to be diving into a new year, and I am so excited to grow with your child. I strive to not only build genuine relationships with my students, but also with their families. We’re all in this together, and I’m happy to answer any questions, collaborate with you, or just chat about any concerns you have. ¡Estoy muy emocionada de comenzar este viaje con todos ustedes! Mi nombre es Carly Kissel y seré la maestra de 1er grado. ¡No puedo esperar a conocer a usted y a su hijo! Prefiero que me llamen Ms Carly, pero pueden llamarme Ms Kissel si eso es lo que usted o su hijo prefieren.

Comenzaré compartiendo un poco sobre mí. Crecí en Aurora, Colorado, y he querido enseñar desde que estaba en la escuela.
