Morning activities will include: bike riding obstacles, helmet safety, bike maintenance information, and a concussion demonstration activity. In the afternoon, students will participate in a bike/walk parade in and around the school. The parade will start at 1:15 p.m. and will conclude at 2:00 p.m. followed by a ceremony on the field. Helpers will be needed for the parade, so if you are interested in volunteering, please contact your child’s teacher.
Related activities will be a raffle and a writing contest. The raffle will promote biking or walking to school during the week of May 1-7. Students will earn tickets each day they walk, bike or ride a bus to school. If students are unable to walk or ride to school, they will be able to earn tickets by walking or running laps during grade-level recesses (not lunch recess). Raffle prizes will be awarded during the ceremony on May 8. The writing contest will be held at school. Students will write about why bike riding is important. High quality pieces will be entered into a drawing for prizes as well.
We are looking forward to this exciting event. If you need more information, please contact your child’s teacher.
