6th Avenue Closed to Traffic on Thursday and Friday

Dear Park Families,

We would like to inform you of a road closure that will impact travel around our school. Today we were notified that East 6th Avenue will be closed to traffic on Thursday, September 20th and Friday, September 21st. The road will be closed to repair a break in the water main. The repair will not impact water service to the school.

2nd Annual Park Elementary Panther Prowl Fun Run Fundraiser

Park PTO and the Specials Teachers would like to introduce the second annual Panther Prowl. A fundraising FUN-RUN for Kinder thru 5th graders. Runners will take the track during each grade level’s “Specials time”, to run for 30 minutes around our 1/7-mile track! Big thanks to PTO, our Specials teachers: Mr. Poole (P.E.), Mrs. Owens (Music), Mrs. Jackson (Art) and Mr. Curmano (Technology) for their time and contributions to this event. Details coming home in Friday folders.

School-wide Picture Day @ Park Elementary - Sept. 14th (Friday)

Picture day for Headstart, Preschool and Kinder through 5th Grades will take place on Friday, Sept. 14th. Order envelopes coming home in Friday folders on Sept. 7th. MJ Thomas Photography recommends that students do not wear green. The flyer that is coming home in Friday folders is attached for your viewing. Payment must be included with the order envelope. There are three ways to pay: check, cash or credit card. See order envelope for details.

Back To School Night Tuesday, Sept. 11th, 2018 -5:00-6:30 pm

We would like to invite all of our Park families to our Back to School Night. This is a great time for your student to give you a tour of the building and get to know their teachers at Park Elementary. Students can meet specials teachers during this time as well. This is a great time to build relationships with other parents and students at Park. Teachers will be explaining to parents about the Park anchors, classroom procedures and processes and academics. CMAS Student Performance Reports

Student Performance Reports for the 2018 Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) English Language Arts and Math tests for grades 3-8 and CMAS Science for grades 5, 8, and 11, as well as CMAS Social Studies for 4th graders at selected schools will be available during the Open House event at each school site.

Student IDs

Students will be issued IDs again this year. New 2018/19 IDs will be distributed following your school’s Fall picture day. IDs issued last year should be used in lieu of the new IDs until the new photos and IDs are produced. These IDs are important for safety and security, allow access to bus transportation services, can be used with City Transit and are required for school library use.

Durango 9-R is updating our Friday Folder communications to save paper, staff time, and support our community partners. Starting this year, all Friday Folders (or Thursday Folders at some schools) will be reserved for school and district communications.
