Schools Open, Drive with Caution

The following is a non-emergency message to all parents, staff, and students in Durango School District 9-R. Due to the unforeseen weather conditions in our area, we want to caution parents regarding travel this morning. While our schools will be open today, Monday, November 12, 2018 we encourage parents to make appropriate decisions regarding their students and attendance today. Staff are encouraged to be cautious on their travels in, state and local plows are sparse at this time, and a number of roads appear to be closed. We apologize for the short notice, this weather system caught many by surprise. More updates will be provided if conditions change. Student Led Conferences - Nov. 5th (Mon.-1:30pm-5:30pm) or Nov. 6th (Tues.-3:00pm-6:00pm)

(Scheduled times were sent home with students)

Park Elementary is excited for Student-Led Conferences Nov. 5th or 6th. Student led conferences engage children in understanding and taking ownership of their learning. There are multiple benefits for student led conferences. Students are given a voice in their education and accept and communicate personal responsibility for their learning. Students who participate in student-led conferences allow students to reflect on their progress and build goals around areas of strengths and weaknesses. At Park, we believe students who lead their conferences are building self-confidence, presentation skills, and critical-thinking. Classroom teachers will connect with parents for 10 minutes of the 20 minutes.
