About Me

Taylor Henzler - 4th Grade Teacher - Worked in Durango 9R for 1 year

I am originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Go Pens! I have lived in Durango for the past five years. Before joining the Durango School District 2 years ago as a District Daily Substitute, you may have seen me digging around in the school gardens. I served as the School Garden Program Coordinator for a local nonprofit, The Garden Project, for three years.

My path to becoming a teacher started in college at Penn State where I graduated with a degree in Art Education with minors in Special Education and Art History. I have since gained an endorsement in Elementary Education. After graduating college, I moved to Brooklyn, New York to work at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. I quickly realized that I am not a big city person and moved to Salida, Colorado. In Salida, I became a whitewater rafting guide and have since rafted on many rivers around the country.

When

I'm not at school learning with students, I love to spend time outside either hiking, skiing, rafting, or gardening.
