We recognize that distance learning is a huge undertaking for families. If your child needs support in accessing instruction, please contact your child’s teacher. We have designed a system for multiple check-ins with students who require more assistance. Also, you may need to do work on the weekends if you are a family that is still working full time during the COVID-19 closure.
If your family needs meals, you must sign up by Friday at 8:00 pm. Every week the link changes, so be sure to look at http://www.durangoschools.org. There is a form in the right hand corner that you fill out. The link: Remote meal access form
The attendance form needs to be completed Monday-Friday. As a district team, we are still working out the kinks; however, we are asking for families to fill this out so we know which families are engaged with school work. Attendance link will be included in all grade levels weekly templates.
If you need to pick up paper based copies, they are available Thursday from 3:00 - 6:00pm and from 7:00 - 11:00 am on Fridays. We are encouraging families to use the online platform to get information. You do not need a printer to access online education.
From our Counselor and Social worker:
In stressful times, children can exhibit some challenging behaviors. When a child is struggling, the whole family is affected. The Child Mind Institute is a resource to help navigate the challenges of parenting and to help you make good decisions for your kids. They explore the concerns and challenges that parents face and provide expert guidance on how to respond in the most effective way. If you have a child who needs support, they offer resources that can help you get the best care for your child and the best outcome for your family. Here is a link to their website where you can access tips on how to work with your children during these stressful times. You can subscribe to free daily tips for how to work through COVID-19 with your children, along with other helpful everyday issues that may come up. Child Mind Institute Parenting Resources
